Digica wins 5 new outsourcing deals

1st June 2005

Digica has announced a series of new contracts, with a total value of over £2.5 million. Deals have been signed with Granada plc, Regent Medical, Arla Foods, Firstpoint Healthcare and the States of Guernsey. These new wins follow the announcements made in March 2005 of £6.3m of new business, and the merger of Digica and Fox IT's managed service division in December 2004.

“These deals show a sustained level of success by Digica, both in winning new contracts and gaining contract extensions from existing clients”, said Mark Howling, Chief Executive Officer at Digica.

Granada plc, one of Europe's leading commercial television production and distribution companies, has signed a three-year deal for management of the Fujitsu mainframe, running the company's Artiste payment system, which is being hosted at Digica's data centre in Warrington.

Express Dairies, which is part of the UK's leading dairy company Arla Foods UK plc, has extended its existing contract with Digica by a further three years. Digica will provide a dedicated team of five people working on applications support and management, a service desk team of four people, and server-farm management based on-site at Express Dairies' shared service centre in Leicester.

The States of Guernsey, the legislative and governing body of Guernsey, has signed a contract for support of its payroll system, extending a previous application development contract. Digica, and formerly Fox IT, has worked with the States of Guernsey for 15 years, and this contract extension is a recognition of the high quality of service provided.

Regent Medical, a global leader in powder-free surgical gloves and skin antisepsis products, has agreed a three-year contract for Digica to provide remote server management and on-site desktop support for UK users. Under the deal, Digica's team based in Cape Town, South Africa will also remotely support Regent Medical's desktop environments across Europe with language support for France, Germany and Italy.

In another health sector deal, Firstpoint Healthcare has signed a three-year contract to host two Intel-based SAP servers at Digica's Nottingham data centre. Digica's support services will include 24x7 incident and change management and systems monitoring. Firstpoint Healthcare is one of the largest independent providers of healthcare personnel in the UK, providing nursing staff to the NHS, private hospitals, industrial workplaces, nursing homes and in-home care.

Digica is headquartered in Nottingham and has 6 other sites across the UK, including 4 data centres, plus an office and data centre in Cape Town, and an affiliate partner, Digica Inc, in New Jersey, USA. It concentrates on the commercial, local government and healthcare sectors. Digica merged with the managed services division of Fox IT in December 2004 and the integration of the two businesses is complete, and was extremely successful. Indeed, these recent wins indicate the strengths of the merged business. The enlarged Digica has an unrivalled depth and breadth of services and resources purely focused on providing IT outsourcing and managed services to medium to large organisations.
