In December 2004, its first month of trading since merging with Fox IT's managed service division, Digica secured contracts with a total value of £6.3 million. Coming from both the commercial side and public sector side of the business, new deals were signed with GeoLogistics, Welwyn Hatfield Council, Premier Foods and BAX Global.
“We are delighted to have won these four significant contracts”, said Mark Howling, Chief Executive Officer at Digica. “The fact that our existing customers are looking to expand and extend their relationships with Digica is a tribute to our partnership approach to outsourcing, and the commitment and technical skill of our staff.”
A major contract worth £2.2 million was secured with GeoLogistics, a leading international logistics integrator. GeoLogistics has been outsourcing the hosting and support of its IT infrastructure globally to Digica since 2003, and has now signed a deal to extend its existing three year contract for a further two years, as well as extending the scope of the agreement to include Applications Support, provided by Digica's South African operation in Cape Town.
The largest win was a £3 million pound deal with Welwyn Hatfield Council, extending the provision of IT services for a further three years. Digica partners Welwyn Hatfield Council to provide a fully managed ICT service, including management of the entire IT infrastructure and supporting the applications run by the council's 650 PC users. Digica is also providing strategic advice to the council to help it meet its e-government targets.
Premier Foods, one of the UK's leading food companies which manufactures brands such as Typhoo, Cadbury Drinking Chocolate and Branston, has signed a three year contract extension worth £520,000, under which Digica provides iSeries data centre hosting and management.
Finally, international logistics firm BAX Global has also extended its contract with Digica for a further three years, adding another £266,000 to the total.
Digica, based in Nottingham, Leeds and Cape Town, has a predominately commercial customer base, whilst the former managed services division of Fox IT (primarily based in Woking, Warrington and Daventry) has a predominantly local government and healthcare focus. Combining these businesses has created a company with an unrivalled depth and breadth of services and resources purely focused on providing IT outsourcing and managed services for medium to large organisations.
“Digica is a very adaptive company. They are very good at what they do and know their market."
Stuart Nelmes, head of IT services, Pizza Hut (UK)
