Digica announced today that it has won a contract worth £3.4 million with Shanks, to provide IT support, management and hosting services.
Under the terms of the agreement, Digica will provide an IT help desk for Shanks, and will manage around 500 desktop PCs. Digica will also manage around 70 Intel servers and 10 Sun Solaris servers, and the applications that run on them, the majority of which will be relocated into its data centre in Warrington.

Shanks will also be provided with technical support services in areas including interface and applications management, security, database administration and third party management. With Digica handling the IT support functions, Shanks' in-house IT staff will be able to focus on business analysis and project management activities, increasing the value that IT can deliver to the business.

Shanks Waste Management Ltd is part of Shanks Group plc, one of Europe's largest independent waste management companies, with customers in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.
