TD Waterhouse, the UK's second largest execution-only broker, has signed a five-year contract with IT outsourcer Digica.
Under the deal, Digica hosts a high availability IBM iSeries (AS/400) server for TD Waterhouse at its Leeds data centre, and provides 24x7 technical support for both the high availability server and the company's production server.
“We selected Digica primarily because of its excellent, proven skills in hosting and managing AS/400s,” said Simon Reynolds, head of infrastructure at TD Waterhouse. “By outsourcing and locating a high availability server offsite, we can reduce risk and provide an assured level of business continuity.”
TD Waterhouse operates an online and telephone share dealing and information service for over 300,000 clients in the UK and guaranteed availability of its stock broking system is critical to its business.
The high availability server hosted by Digica is a mirror of TD Waterhouse's production iSeries server. This production server runs the stock broking system, which handles share trades.
TD Waterhouse is one of the world's largest discount brokers, providing investors with a broad range of brokerage, mutual fund, banking and other consumer financial products. Worldwide, TD Waterhouse currently services more than 3.3 million customer accounts and has over $130 billion of customer assets under management.
TD Waterhouse UK provides investors with execution-only share dealing services through its website at www.tdwaterhouse.co.uk and by phone on 0845 607 6001. Trading is available in Equities, Unit Trusts, Bonds and Gilts, Covered Warrants and Contracts For Difference (CFDs), with direct access to International markets.
“We selected Digica primarily because of its excellent, proven skills in hosting and managing AS/400s.”
